Abstrakt

This special issue conjoins five articles on the interrelation of language, ethics, and politics.Against philosophy of language's traditional focus on logical and epistemological questions, the issue highlights the relevance of language in practical philosophy. It locates itself within the broader context of an ethico-political turn to language after the linguistic turn that gains momentum since the end of the 20

th century. The orientation towards language in its ethical and political dimensions follows the insight that language cannot exclusively be conceived in epistemological terms.Rather, any thorough reflection on language is confronted with an irreducible entanglement of epistemology, ethics, and politics. Not at least against the background of recent socio-political challenges, 21

st century philosophy of language has to acknowledge this entanglement.
